Opportunities
SME Technology Showcase: Call for Abstracts
Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) is inviting 200-word abstract submissions for its SME Technology Showcase, taking place on October 7, 2025.

The event will spotlight innovative technologies driving renewable energy and net-zero goals. Topics include AI in energy, offshore wind, green hydrogen, grid tech and low-carbon solutions.
Open to SMEs, the showcase offers visibility and collaboration opportunities.
The submission deadline is Friday, June 13. More details and guidelines are available on AREG’s website.
Just Transition Fund – North East & Moray
Applications are now open for the Scottish Government’s Just Transition Fund.

The fund offers £8.5 million in capital funding available through the Just Transition Fund to support innovative projects that contribute to net-zero goals in the North East and Moray.
Open to bids from £500 thousand to £5 million, this round targets projects focused on jobs, skills and economic opportunities.

Spiorad na Mara
Spiorad na Mara invites all businesses and suppliers with an interest in working on the project to register interest via the supply chain portal on the project website.

The 900MW project is owned by Northland Power (75.5%) and ESB (24.5%), with Northland leading on the development, construction and operation.
Currently in the development phase, subject to all the necessary permits and consents being received, Spiorad na Mara could begin construction in 2028 and be operational by 2031.
During the development, construction and operational phases of the project, there will be a number of opportunities for contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers and service providers.

Innovate UK Collaborative R&D and Feasibility Competitions
Innovate UK is offering funding for collaborative research and development (R&D) and feasibility projects across sectors like AI, semiconductors, clean energy and tech.

UK-based businesses, universities and research organisations can apply.
Funding ranges from hundreds of thousands to several million pounds, supporting projects from early research to development.

SME Loan Scheme for Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency loans of up to £100,000 are available to small and medium-sized enterprises, charities and not-for-profits in Scotland that have been trading for more than 12 months.

Eligible projects include heating, ventilation and air conditioning upgrades, insulation, LED lighting, solar thermal systems and renewable heat.

Community Energy Generation Growth Fund
The Community Energy Generation Growth Fund is now open for applications.

Grants are available for community groups to support feasibility, development and construction of renewable energy projects like wind, solar and hydrogen. Funding can cover up to £250,000 depending on the project stage.
Local Energy Scotland is also organising a webinar with instructions on how to apply. The webinar will take place on Thursday, May 29 from 6pm-7pm on Zoom.

Supply Chain Networking Reception | May 8, Aberdeen
The Clean Energy Cluster was proud to support Scottish Renewables’ Supply Chain Networking Reception on May 8 in Aberdeen.

It was a fantastic evening recognising the remarkable organisations featured in this year’s Supply Chain Impact Statement. We were delighted to join developers, supply chain businesses and industry stakeholders to network and raise a glass to the tenacity of the local companies who are driving forward Scotland’s clean energy future.

All-Energy | May 14-15, Glasgow
This month the Clean Energy Cluster exhibited at All-Energy on May 14–15, at the SEC in Glasgow.

The team engaged with various industry leaders and innovators at the event which provided a valuable platform for networking, knowledge exchange and exploring the latest advancements in clean energy technology.
We look forward to applying the insights gained from the conference to support our members and advance the clean energy transition.
Regional Growth Prospectuses – launch event | May 19, London
On May 19, the cluster team had the pleasure of celebrating the launch of the UK Regional Growth prospectus.

Commissioned by The Crown Estate and the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC), the reports bring the Industrial Growth Plan to life at a regional level, highlighting the unique capabilities, infrastructure and opportunities across the UK to grow offshore wind as a strategic economic sector.

Floating Wind Days | May 21-22, Haugesund
The Clean Energy Cluster team was thrilled to attend Floating Wind Days 2025 on May 21–22 in Haugesund, Norway.

Organised by Norwegian Offshore Wind, this event brought together over 750 international attendees from more than 36 countries.
The conference included an insightful programme aimed at addressing global challenges in the renewable energy sector.
The UK featured significantly throughout the panel sessions and our team engaged in valuable discussions with key industry players to explore collaboration and export opportunities for the evolving Scottish offshore wind supply chain.
Offshore Wind PBIAA Project Launch Event | May 30, Edinburgh
The cluster attended the launch event of the Offshore Wind Place-Based Impact Accelerator Account (PBIAA) on Friday, May 30, in Edinburgh.

The team had the pleasure of hearing more about this project, led by The University of Edinburgh in collaboration with The University of Dundee and Forth & Tay Offshore.
With great ambitions to accelerate offshore wind innovation in the Forth and Tay region, the Offshore Wind PBIAA aims to address critical challenges and strengthen Scotland’s position as a leader in clean power.

Inch Cape Offshore Construction Supplier Event | June 25 , Montrose
Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm’s offshore construction will kick-off soon.
To highlight the project’s construction contracting opportunities, local suppliers are invited to attend a free supply chain event on Wednesday, June 25.
The Inch Cape team will be based at Montrose Port, the project’s operations and maintenance base.
The marshalling activity for the foundations and turbines will take place at Forth Ports’ facilities in Leith and Dundee.
Key contractors will exhibit and present at this valuable event. Attendees can also tour Montrose Port and learn about ORE Catapult’s first Scottish Launch Academy.

Scottish Renewables’ Scottish Green Energy Supply Chain Awards return to Aberdeen on August 21 to celebrate the people at the heart of the sector, who make the deployment of billion-pound renewable energy projects possible.
From cable suppliers, data analysts and safety teams to consultants, lawyers and hauliers, the awards recognise the commitment, collaboration and innovation of the organisations and individuals delivering specialist work across all technologies.

The Clean Energy Cluster Regional Growth Prospectus Launch
The Clean Energy Cluster is proud to support the publication of the Regional Growth Prospectuses launched on Monday, May 19 by the Offshore Wind Industry Council and The Crown Estate.
The prospectuses outline how coastal regions across the UK can expand their activities in key parts of the growing offshore wind supply chain. This would create and sustain an additional 10,000 new jobs, on top of the 100,000 already expected in the industry and boost the UK’s economy by over £25 billion between now and 2035.
The Regional Growth Prospectuses are tailored to eight coastal regions where companies involved in the sector are already concentrated and where there is an expectation that other firms will join them as the industry’s supply chain continues to grow.

UK govt more than doubles clean industry bonus budget to GBP 544m

UK Energy Secretary Ed Miliband has increased the Clean Industry Bonus budget for the upcoming seventh round of the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme from £200 million to £544 million. The uplift follows strong interest from offshore wind developers aiming to invest in cleaner supply chains and economically deprived regions.
