Opportunities
Low Emission Zone Support Fund: Grants for micro businesses in Scotland
The Low Emission Zone Support Fund, administered by Energy Saving Trust and funded by Transport Scotland, offers grants to micro businesses and sole traders operating within 20km of Scotland’s low emission zones in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee.

Eligible businesses with nine or fewer full-time employees can receive a £2,000 grant to dispose of non-compliant vehicles at a Scottish authorised treatment facility. Upon successful vehicle disposal, businesses may qualify for an additional £1,000 towards purchasing a purpose-built cargo or electric cargo bike to support their operations. Funding is limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Find out more information on Energy Saving Trust’s website.
Aberdeen Energy Efficiency Programme
The Aberdeen Energy Efficiency Programme, managed by Scarf in partnership with Aberdeen City Council, offers non-repayable grants of up to £10,000 to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), sole traders and third-sector organisations based in Aberdeen.

These grants cover up to 50% of the cost of energy-saving improvements, such as renewable energy installations, energy-efficient equipment and building upgrades. The aim is to help businesses reduce energy bills, lower their carbon footprint and enhance sustainability.
Applications are open until November 23, or until funds are fully allocated. Find out more information and apply on Scarf’s website.
Clean Energy Transition Partnership
The Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP) is a €3.5 million international funding programme supporting collaborative research and innovation projects aimed at accelerating the clean energy transition. Managed by Scottish Enterprise on behalf of the Scottish Government, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and South of Scotland Enterprise, CETP invites applications from Scottish companies, universities and research institutions.

Eligible projects must involve at least three independent partners from three different countries, with at least two being EU member states or Horizon Europe Associated Countries. Proposals are sought in nine thematic areas, including advanced renewable energy technologies, carbon capture, hydrogen and renewable fuels, heating and cooling technologies and integrated regional energy systems.
Find out more information and apply on the CETP website.
DRIVE35 Innovation Fund : Collaborate
The DRIVE35 Innovation Fund – Collaborate stream offers UK-registered businesses grant funding between £2.5 million and £25 million for late-stage research and development projects aimed at commercialising zero-emission vehicle technologies.

Projects must be collaborative (with at least two UK organisations, including a small and medium enterprise and a vehicle manufacturer or Tier 1 supplier), match at least 50% of the grant, run for 18–36 months, begin by March 1, 2026 and conclude by February 28, 2029. Funding supports innovations in electric vehicle components, fuel cells, hydrogen systems, lightweight materials and power electronics.
Applications close on October 1. Find out more information and apply on Innovate UK’s website.
